Power Questions

Once we are clear as to what we want to create, we can design action steps that enable us to achieve our desires. Asking yourself powerful questions can help you articulate exactly what you want ? so you can go out and get it!

The American Heritage Dictionary's definition of the word "question" is: an expression of inquiry that invites or calls for a reply. Try any of the questions below to jumpstart your personal exploration and to elicit replies that create meaningful action in your life.
  1. If you knew you would not fail and time and money were not issues, what three things would you most like to have, accomplish, or work towards?

  2. What one change in your life would make the biggest positive different?

  3. What do you really, really want?

  4. How will your life be different when you get it?

  5. How will you know when you have it?

  6. What motivates you?

  7. What stops you?

  8. What keeps you up at night?

  9. What are some professional or work opportunities you are currently not taking advantage of?

  10. What three things did you love to do as a child? Are these things part of your life today? If not, why?
These questions can be used as jumping off point for personal and professional development. They are not meant to be all-inclusive or all-knowing. But, before one can create an action plan, there does need to be awareness as to what is important to you and what you want to create.

Once you've had a chance to answer these questions, ask yourself this: Did you notice any themes? Did you experience resistance to answering any of the above questions? Is there one change you are willing to make based on what you've learned by answering these questions?
